We are so grateful for the generosity of the individuals and buisnesses in our community, whose donations help us care for the 100+ animals living in our facility every day! Can you help? If you're thinking of donating pet supplies, these are the items we're most in need of on a daily basis:
High priority items:
KONGS: XL and XXLIn an attempt to provide more occupying tasks for our dogs during the day, we have decided to introduce Kong feeding at both meal times. Not only does this prolong a dog's mealtime, but it's a great energy burner and will provide some much needed mental stimulation. We are looking for two specific sizes: XL and XXL. Click here for a link to the Petsmart website. You may also find this item at other pet supply stores in the area.
High quality wet dog and cat food
(What's high quality? Any food containing no by-products, additives, or dyes (food coloring), such as Eaglepack, Wellness, Innova, or California Natural. While these brands tend to be a little more expensive, they help our animals maintain a healthy diet--which combats stress and boosts immunity in our population.)
Procollar and Bite Not plastic collars for cats and dogs
In a continued effort to make every animal's stay here as comfortable as possible, HSCC is trying to move away from standard e-collars (coned shaped) that are bulky, awkward, noisy, and difficult to eat and drink with. Follow the links below to learn more about the inflatable ring and the plastic collar.
- Procollar - Soft, comfortable, inflatable collar for post-surgery protection. We need all sizes--Medium, Large, and Extra Large.
- Bite Not - Offered in both dog and cat sizes. 5", 6", and 7" preferred.
Other wishlist items:
- Boomboxes/CD players to provide our dogs and cats with relaxation and enrichment during their stay here. Players with a looping function or that accept multiple CDs at a time are especially helpful!
- FURminator cat brushes - click here for a link.
- Cat wand toys - click here to see an example
- SlimCat Treat Balls - click here to find them
- Airtight food containers - click here to find out more.
- Peanut Butter
- Non-clumping cat litter (we use approx. 200 pounds of litter per week!)
- Tough, durable dog toys (for heavy-duty chewers), Buster Cubes, and Busy Balls
- Catnip and general cat toys!
- Frontline Plus
- Dishsoap
- 45 gallon lawn and leaf bags or kitchen trash bags (drawstring)
- Havaheart live traps - kitty sized
*Currently we are NOT accepting donations of linens or towels, as we no longer have enough space to store them*
Donations can be dropped off in our lobby anytime during our open hours of operation, or just outside the front doors when we're closed (we'll see them!). Please note that we will not be able to provide you with a receipt for your items if you drop them off when we're closed.
Thank you very much for helping us to maintain our shelter and keep our animals comfortable and enriched!
Our animals are made more comfortable thanks to the generous support of Pet Food Warehouse ! Don't forget that many of the items on this page can be found at either of their two locations.
